AbstractResumo Este trabalho mostra que e possivel com as imagens do satelite GOES e o equipamento de recepcao e processamento SITIM-SISCO do DME (ex-Departamento de Meteorologia)no INPE, estimar em tempo-real tanto a probabilidade de ocorrencia de precipitacao associada a nuvens convectivas (com 50 de acerto)com o seu volume (com um coeficiente de correlacao de 0,73 entre os valores previstos e os reais). Devido as limitacoes do computador, a aplicacao das tecnicas aqui desenvolvidas fica restrita a uma area de no maximo 10 6Km2. Abstract This work shows that it is possible with the images of the satellite GOES and the equipment reception and SITIM-SISCO processing DME (former Department of Meteorology) at INPE estimate in real-time both the probability of occurrence of rainfall associated with convective clouds (with 50 hit) with its volume (with a correlation coefficient of 0.73 between the predicted and actual values). Due to computer limitations, the application of techniques developed here is restricted to an area of at most 10 6Km2.
