| Abstract | O presente trabalho tem como objetivo incorporar as informações de imagens do radiômetro avançado de alta resolução "Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer" (AVHRR) na quinta versão do pacote internacional de processamento TOVS "International TOVS Processing Package" - (ITPP5.0) para avaliar o seu desempenho em relação a classificação do padrão de cobertura de nuvens no local da sondagem. Além disso realiza uma análise dos perfis verticais de temperatura da atmosfera inferidos através do sondador vertical operacional TIROS "TIROS Operational Vertical Sounder" - (TOVS). Foram utilizados dados da passagem do satélite NOAA-14, referentes ao horário da tarde dos dias 14, 15 e 16 de outubro de 1997 cobrindo a região sul do Brasil e parte do oceano Atlântico Sul. O aplicativo ITPP5.0 foi executado para diferentes opções de processamento utilizando dados internos referentes a superfície terrestre e atmosfera, dados de temperatura da superfície terrestre e dados de previsão numérica de tempo. Os resultados obtidos mostram que em geral o padrão de nebulosidade e melhor classificado com a introdução dos dados AVHRR. Observa-se também que os perfis verticais de temperatura são influenciados em média até a altura equivalente a 700 hPa devido a ancoragem do perfil com dados de temperatura da superfície terrestre e que os dados de previsão numérica de tempo (first guess) influenciam os perfis em todos os níveis de pressão. ABSTRACT: The aim of this work is to incorporate data extracted from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) sensor into International TOVS Processing Package (ITPP5.0) model and then to evaluate its performance for classifying clouds coverage patterns at soundings locations. Also, a brief analysis of the resulting temperature and moisture profiles is presented. The analysis was based on radiance data from the satellite NOAA-14, afternoon passages, for the 14th - 16th October, 1997 period, and covering the Southern region of Brazil and vicinities. The ITTP5.0 model was set up with different processing options involving internal data (regression coefficients), surface temperature data and temperature profile from numerical weather forecasting model. The results obtained show that in general the cloud pattern is better classified with the aid of AVHRR data. It was also observed that the processing of anchoring surface temperature influences the temperature profile up to the equivalent height of 700 hPa. On the other hand the use of temperature and moisture profiles as a first guess affects the behaviour of the resulting ITPP5.0 profiles in all tropospheric levels. | |||
