| Abstract | Resumo Foi realizado um estudo em sete áreas indígenas (Ananas, Ponta da Serra, Cajueiro, Ouro, Araca, Serra da Moca e Recanto da Saudade - Território de Roraima), pertencentes aos grupos indígenas Macuxi e Wapixana, com o objetivo de prover informações que possibilitem a identificação e a localização de situações de risco ambiental. Para isso, foram utilizadas imagens TM do satélite Landsat, em papel, coloridas nos canais 3,4 e 5, na escala de 1:50.000. Foram identificadas e mapeadas as classes de cobertura vegetal associadas ao tipo de uso da terra, alem do tipo de alteração observada no campo. O trabalho mostra um quadro das possibilidades e limitações da utilização da tecnologia espacial como fonte provedora de informações sobre o uso da terra e risco ambiental. Abstract A study in seven indigenous areas was conducted (Ananas, Sierra Point, Cashew gold Araca, Serra da Moca and Nook da Saudade - Territory of Roraima), belonging to indigenous groups Macuxi and Wapixana, in order to provide information allowing the identification and location of environmentally risky situations. For this, they used satellite images of Landsat TM, on paper, colored in the channels 3.4 and 5, on the scale of 1: 50,000. They have been identified and mapped the land cover classes associated with the type of land use, besides the type of change observed in the field. The work shows a picture of the possibilities and limitations of the use of space technology as a provider source of information on land use and environmental risk. | |||
