| Abstract | O presente trabalho consiste no mapeamento das áreas de ocorrência do Grupo Bauru no estado de São Paulo, que se concentram principalmente no Planalto Ocidental Paulista. Compreende o Mapeamento Geológico Regional na escala 1:250.000, através do uso de imagens MSS/LANDSAT. A interpretação visual das imagens consistiu basicamente na identificação e análise das diferentes características espectrais utilizando-se os canais 5 e 7, os quais apresentam uma melhor resposta para a diferenciação das unidades geológicas que constituem este Grupo. Complementando os estudos das imagens, realizou-se uma etapa de tratamento automático no Analisador I-100, com a finalidade de auxiliar a extração de informações, principalmente em áreas de difícil caracterização na interpretação visual. Através das características regionais fornecidas pelas imagens MSS/LANDSAT, aliadas a estudos litoestratigráficos efetuados nas áreas de ocorrência destes sedimentos, foi possível a homogeneização dos critérios para subdivisão deste Grupo; obteve-se assim uma distribuição espacial das unidades mapeadas para todo o estado de São Paulo, correlacionando-as à divisão estratigráfica proposta em 1980 por Soares et alii para o Grupo Bauru: Formação Caiuá, Santo Anastácio, Adamantina e Marília. ABSTRACT: The present work deals with the results of mapping areas of occurrence the Bauru Group in São Paulo State; with emphasis on the western plateu regions. Regional geological mapping was carried out on a 1:250.000 scale with the help of MSS/LANDSAT images. The visual interpretation of images consisted basically of identification of different spectral characteristics of the geological units using channels 5 and 7, which give the best response for this purpose. In addition, complementary studies were made fot treatment of data with an Interative Image (I-100) analyser in order to facilitate the axtraction of information, particularly for areas where visual interpretation proved to be difficult. Regional characteristics provided by MSS/ LANDSAT images, coupled with lithostratigraphic studies carried out in the areas of occurrence of Bauru Group sediments, enabled the homogenization of criteria for subdivision of this group Thus it was possible to obtain a spatial distribution of the mapped units for the entire State of São Paulo and to correlate these with the stratigraphic divisions: Caiuá, Santo Anastácio, Adamantina and Marília Formations proposed by Soares et alli in 1980. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
