AbstractSão relatados trabalhos voltados ao conhecimento do comportamento espectral de culturas agrícolas, dos fundamentos básicos às diferentes aplicações. A reflectância espectral de dosséis vegetais foi analisada em função de suas variáveis biofísicas, baseando-se em dados experimentais de laboratório e de campo. Os estudos fundamentais enfocam como princípio elementar a reflectância de folhas, suas causas e variantes. A extensão desses conhecimentos para o dossel vegetal é feita incorporando elementos de cena, como a geometria de iluminação, observação, reflectância do solo ou estrato subjacente e a arquitetura das plantas. O dado espectral é relatado como o resultado da ação sinérgica de diversos fatores, cuja interpretação se faz alvo do desenvolvimento metodológico em sensoriamento remoto agrícola. Ante as condições tecnológicas vigentes, recomenda-se um resgate desses conhecimentos para o aproveitamento adequado das facilidades atuais de aquisição e análise da reflectância de dosséis agrícolas. ABSTRACT - This paper reports a series of studies conducted towards the comprehension of spectral properties of crop canopies, from basic rationales to different applications. The spectral reflectance of crop canopies were studied in relation to their biophysical variables, with data collected in field and laboratory trials. The fundamental works focuses leaf reflectance as the elementary principle, with its causes and factors. This knowledge is extended to vegetative canopy by means of incorporating scene elements, as illumination and observation geometry, underlying soil reflectance and plant architecture. The spectral data is reported as a result of diverse synergistic factors, whose interpretation is subject of methodological development in remote sensing of agriculture. Considering the technological resources of present times, a retrieval of this knowledge is recommended to properly employ nowadays facilities for the acquisition and analysis of crop canopy reflectance data.
