AbstractO Projeto Rondônia tem como objetivo a determinação de padrões de classificação automática dos granitos intrusivos, pertencentes à Província Estanífera de Rondônia, localizada na sua quase totalidade no Território Federal de Rondônia. Neste projeto, foram utilizadas imagens multiespectrais obtidas pelo satélite LANDSAT, copiadas em papel e em fitas magnéticas CCT (Computer Compatible Tape). Foi realizado, inicialmente um mapeamento fotogeológico regional, na escala de 1:1.000.000, correspondendo à metade Norte do referido território. Este mapeamento teve como finalidade situar espacial e cronologicamente os granitos responsáveis pelas mineralizações de cassiterita. Nesta etapa foi proposta uma área teste, que englobasse o Complexo Granítico Massangana/São Domingos, na qual seria feita uma interpretação fotogeológica convencional, na escala de 1:250.000, e posteriormente uma automática, processada pelo Analisador Automática de Imagens (I.100). Na interpretação automática foram utilizados os programas "SLICER" e "CLUSTER SYNTHESIS". ABSTRACT: The objective of Project Rondônia is the determination of patterns of automatic classification of intrusive granites belonging to the tin-bearing region of Rondônia and localized throughout nearly the totality of the Federal Territory of Rondônia. This project utilized LANDSAT multispectral imagery, copied on paper and on magnetic tapes (CCT-computer compatible tape). Initially, a photogeological map corresponding to half of the referred territory was constructed at a scale of 1:1.000.000. The final map situates spatially and chronologically granites with cassiteritic (tin-ore) mineralizations. In this stage, a test area was proposed wich encompasses the granitic complex of Massangana/São Domingos. Mapping would be carried out by conventional photogeologic interpretation at a scale of 1:250.000 and preceeded by automatic interpretation and processing through the IMAGE-100 multispectral analyzer system. Programas used during automatic interpretation included "slicer" and "cluster synthesis" algorithms.
